Leslie, born and raised in the Upper Peninsula, graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s degree in social work along with a certificate in working with combat veterans. Leslie has experience in working with clients (both individually and in groups) with cognitive and emotional impairments, developmental delays, physical limitations, and a variety of mental health disorders. She has a background in working with families, teachers, and employers as well in helping them increase their knowledge and understanding of what it means to alongside people with various mental health challenges and to encourage more inclusivity in the classroom and workplace. She has experience in helping clients learn positive coping strategies, how to challenge and reframe their negative thoughts, develop communication skills and healthy boundaries, as well as improve independent living skills all to help foster a healthier self esteem and outlook on their lives. She utilizes a strength- based approach and cognitive behavioral therapy to assist her clients in working towards their goals and enjoys seeing their confidence and self-advocacy skills grow as they realize their own capabilities and potential.
